7 DAY PHOTO TOUR

Day 1: Sarajevo photography tour – Trebevic (Overnight in Sarajevo)

After meeting at the airport or at the bus station we will drive to the Old town and do the check in at the accommodation. Shortly after that we will either have a lunch or immediately start the photo tour of Sarajevo old town including a visit of the best panoramic photo spot of Sarajevo. We will drive up to the mountain located above the city which is known for its abandoned Bobsled used for the winter Olympic games in 1984. Today that facility is quite interesting since it is unofficially converted into a polygon for the graffiti artists and as a colorful heavy concrete monument winding between green trees and bushes it is a must for any photographer!

Day 2: Sarajevo – Lukomir (Overnight in Sarajevo)

Visiting Lukomir, the highest and most remote settlement in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be on every photographer’s list when visiting this country. Traditional architecture and a way of life that remained almost unchanged in the last 500 years or more will make you feel like you time traveled and it will give you a plenty of great photo opportunities to capture a village frozen in time. Picturesque drive on the way to Lukomir is one of the most beautiful mountain roads in Bosnia and is a worthy experience in itself. During wintertime it is not possible to reach it by car and roads are often blocked until late spring. This comes as no surprise as this small village is nested on the south slopes of Bjelašnica mountain 1469 meters above sea level. Lukomir (literally translated as an oasis of peace) is located at the edge of Rakitnica Canyon the second deepest canyon in Europe.

Day 3: Sarajevo – Konjic – Blagaj – Mostar (Overnight in Mostar)

Next morning after the breakfast we are leaving Sarajevo and heading south via the most scenic road in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The road goes through dramatic canyons and mountains mostly following beautiful green rivers and lake. On this amazing photo journey you will not only discover why the Old bridge in Mostar is the most iconic and the most recognizable image from our Country but we will also go to some really photogenic small towns like Konjic, Jablanica and Blagaj!

Day 4: Mostar – Pocitelj – Kravica waterfalls – Jajce (Overnight in Jajce)

After breakfast we are leaving Mostar and taking an hour long drive south to the most beautiful waterfalls of Herzegovina – Kravica waterfalls! Its hidden oasis where the Trebižat River plummets in a broad 25m-high arc into an emerald pool. In spring, this gorgeous mini-Niagara pounds itself into a dramatic, steamy fury. In summer it’s a gentler cascade, but the basin offers an idyllic respite from the sweltering heat for hundreds of locals and tourists. For sure this is one of the last places in the whole region where people are allowed to swim in such beautiful place and enjoy amazing scenery.

Next stop is Počitelj which alongside Mostar, Blagaj and Kravice waterfalls is the pearl of Herzegovina. It is a small village in the hills, lying on the banks of river Neretva. What makes this village special are beautiful historic buildings built from white stone that blended with nature. Town evolved between 16th and 18th century. After this stop we will 3 hrs drive towards beautiful small town Jajce located in Central Bosnia. With this pretty scenic drive, you will witness the sudden change of landscape and what is really difference between Herzegovina and Bosnia. Drive from dry heat, rocks and bushes to green woods and cooler temperature – from Mediterranean to Sub-continental climate! Jajce is situated in a mountainous valley at the confluence of the Pliva and Vrbas rivers. Beside the imposing fortress from 13th century, the scenic waterfall located in the middle of the old town is one of the main landmarks.

Day 5: Jajce – Water mills – Strbacki buk NP  (Overnight in Kulen Vakuf)

After the breakfast we are leaving Jajce and taking a short drive to a nearby watermills which are known to be there since the Middle Ages. Nineteen water mills – dwellings, covered with shingles, were built of oak wood more than a hundred years. Each mill uses its own mechanism and is enclosed within little wooden house, each with its own number and brass knocker on the door. The watermills were used to grind wheat into flour right up until the Second World War. Even though the mills are locked and it’s not possible to go inside, it is still beautiful location for taking some really interesting photos.

After Central Bosnia we are heading west, to the spot where the biggest waterfalls are located – to the Strbacki buk waterfalls! With its 24.5 meters of height Strbacki buk presents not only the highest and the most spectacular waterfall in the National Park but in the whole country. It’s one of the highlights of the photography tour and a proper treat for any photographer!

Day 6: Kulen Vakuf – Travnik – Prokosko lake (Overnight at Prokosko lake)

After breakfast we are taking a longer drive towards Central Bosnia again but this time, we are taking different route which leads to a beautiful small town Travnik, the Ottoman Viziers (Governors) capital of Bosnia for 150 years which was once called the European Istanbul. Today the town attracts visitors to its historical center, an open museum of Ottoman architecture. After exploring Travnik old town and having a lunch break, we are continuing our journey even deeper into Central Bosnia where our final destination will be Prokoško Lake. Small glacial lake, located around 14 miles above small Bosnian town of Fojnica, at mountain Vranica. It is surrounded by a number of old wooden shepherd huts called katuni and there is also an old wooden mosque you can visit while at the lake. The view of these huts and the lake from higher level ground is just amazing! We will spend the night in one of the huts overlooking the lake.
